New CD on the way:
Category: KDB News
SoopaFlyYT's AvatarHello all,
after many years (too long) there is a new KDB CD on the way. 13 songs, 12 Ken DeRouchie originals and one classic Percy Mayfield tune with a Ken DeRouchie arrangement on it.

I'm looking at a June or July release for this and I couldn't be more excited about this disc. There's a really broad spectrum of styles represented on this disc. From old school soul and gospel to rock, funk and even some jazzy notes.

The name of this disc is Muse. Please keep an eye out for it. I think you're going to like it.

Ken DeRouchie at the Aladdin Theater March 30th:
Category: KDB News
SoopaFlyYT's AvatarThe Shakers' Sessions CD just ended its run at Burgerville restaurants, where it was exclusively on sale since November 16th. A check for $54,000 was presented to the Brian Grant Foundation for Parkinson's research! That reflects sales of very nearly 9,000 CDs. AMAZING!

A celebration for this success will take place on Friday, March 30, at the Aladdin Theater in Portland at the 7th annual Shakers' Ball concert honoring and benefitting two other wonderful local Parkinson's' organizations, Parkinson's Resources of Oregon and The Parkinson's Center of Oregon at OHSU. Tickets ($15) will soon be available at the Aladdin box office or online at http://www.aladdin-theater.com

Performing full sets that night will be Casey Neill & the Norway Rats, Ian Moore & the Lossy Coils, and Rob Stroup & the Blame. Casey, Ian, and Rob each sang one of the songs on the CD. This will be an evening of great music and, again, all for a great cause.

Also performing that night will be several artists that contributed to the Shakers Sessions CD, including:

Nick Peets, Bart Ferguson, Ken DeRouchie, Steve Wilkinson and Rob Barteletti the founder of The Shakers Session project.

Shakers Sessions CD Release:
Category: KDB News
SoopaFlyYT's AvatarShakers Sessions CD - Benefit for the Brian Grant foundation. Tuesday, Nov 15th at the Hawthorne Burgerville

In 2010, Rob had just written a series of “swampy, sad,
hopeful songs,” Rob remembers. “I brought rough demos to
my friend and producer, Rob Stroup, for his opinion. As we
discussed this, we came up with the idea to invite the best
singers in Portland and the Northwest to each record one of
my songs.” Right from the start, their goal was to promote the
album as a benefit, with all profits earmarked for Parkinson’s
disease organizations.

It is also the story of serendipity: about Rob meeting a new neighbor, Mike Roe, who happened to run an Internet music streaming business that had just put together “Burgerville Radio” in all 38 Burgerville stores; how Mike came to hear and believe in Rob’s music and his cause – enough to bring it to his client, Jeff Harvey; how Brian Grant, former Portland NBA star player, developed Parkinson’s disease and put his great heart into a new
cause through the Brian Grant Foundation, finding ways to provide support and education for those with PD; and how these people came together with the help of many folks behind the scenes.

“How Brian Grant and his foundation came aboard is another cool
part of this story,” Rob exclaims. Rob had approached Brian’s
foundation almost a year ago to see if they would be interested in
being the beneficiary of Rob’s project. The foundation, however,
was not equipped to take on such a challenge alone. Now, not
quite a year later, Burgerville has become the perfect
partner/sponsor to make this serendipitous arrangment work with
optimum harmony and purpose.

On Tuesday, November 15, this dream project becomes a reality as
it is released at all 38 Burgerville stores in Oregon and Washington, with a
special CD release event featuring Rob, Brian, and many from the
CD’s cast of musicians and vocalists, at the Burgerville on SE
12th and Hawthorne.

Though not all will appear that day from 3:30 to 7 p.m., the following vocalists are the lead singers on the 12 tracks on this album: Rob Barteletti, Mike Coykendall, Ken DeRouchie, Pete Droge, Bart Ferguson, Storm Large, Ian Moore, Casey Neill, Nick Peets, Rob Stroup, Fernando Viciconte, and Steve Wilkinson.
